Adults become elders at age 70/280 Sim-days, after a 208-day-long adulthood. So for this tweaked version of Hat’s mod: (Despite what the game dialogs might say, the only age transition that matters in terms of a Sim’s total life length is the adult-to-elder one.) What you do in SimPE is set a minimum and maximum length of time that elders can live and then define how much aspiration penalty or bonus they get, which then determines when they will die. For elders, the length of the life stage depends on what their aspiration state was when they aged to elder. Modding the elder life stage is a bit different than the other stages. More details and the download link are behind the cut. :) ) What this means is that this tweak to Hat’s mod is going to give you a (somewhat) functional “middle age” that you can dress up accordingly, if you like, to differentiate your older adults from younger adults…so long as you’re willing to accept a really long adult lifestage, of course. (Males, of course, can continue to father sprogs until their dying day. So, if you use ACR, this gives you a fairly long stretch of time where you have adult females who are infertile. However, I did not want to fuss with Hat’s modded ACR controller that goes with the age mod because I did still want fertility for females to stop at the same time as in the un-tweaked mod. So, basically, this means lopping days off the elder stage and giving them to the adults instead. I wanted to futz with this a bit, so I changed things so that Sims don’t become elders in Hat’s aging scheme until they are 70 years/280 days old. Meaning, lots of elders running around even though a good chunk of those “elders” aren’t really all that old. For realism purposes, this makes some degree of sense, but from a practical playing standpoint, it tends to create neighborhoods that are visually age-skewed. However, it has a very long elder stage that begins when Sims are only 46 years/184 days old. To sum up a long post I already made, I like to use Hat’s Gestation-Proportional Age Mod when I want a slowly-moving, relaxing neighborhood to play.
